The goal was to later enlarge the High Sierra one. I booted as usual on Sierra and tried creating a new partition using Disk Utility by reducing the size of the 450 GB partition in 50 GB. Restore from a disk image: Click Image, choose the disk image you want to copy, then click Open. Wait until the process is ready in the Task to-do list on the right. Here's the breakdown of the situation: I had this MacOS Sierra partition, 450 GB, and a second partition with MacOS High Sierra, 50 GB. Restore from a volume: Click the “Restore from” pop-up menu, then choose the volume you want to copy. The command sudo diskutil unmountDisk force /devdisk0 failed because at least one volume could not be unmounted Problem is. ![]() ![]() This is the volume that is erased and becomes the exact copy. The destination disk must have as many partitions as the disk image, and each of the disk’s partitions must be at least as large as the corresponding partition in the disk image. In the Disk Utility app, select the disk in the sidebar, click the Partition button, then partition the destination disk. The disk image’s volumes appear as disks in the Finder. To restore a disk image with multiple volumes to a disk, you must partition the destination disk, then restore each volume individually.
